Blackheath's ladies 1st and 2nd clash on 2 February. Juniors pick players of the match, get chance to play to under floodlights. Award for best fans
On Saturday 2 February, it couldn’t be bigger, it is Blackheath v Blackheath. The ladies top two teams clash in the Kent Women’s Hockey League. The match takes place at College Meadow at 3pm.
The Ladies Ones are currently top of the table as they look for promotion to the EHL East Region. Meanwhile, the seconds, fresh from promotion to Kent’s Premier, are holding their own in seventh place.
It will be a unique occasion and a great chance for our youngsters to get a glimpse of what the future might hold.
To celebrate the occasion, we’ve designated the match as a ‘Club Day’. All the junior sides are invited to attend.
The juniors will select the player of the match for both sides and the wally of the match. Kate Allen, our Under-10 girls team manager, will be coordinating the awards.
The captains, meanwhile, will be making an award to the best supporters (or group of supporters). So we will be looking for the best songs, banners and even heckling!
Then there will be a short match for the juniors under the floodlights – so juniors remember to bring your kit and sticks.
Refreshments will be available in the pavilion.
Our junior coaches Jeanette, Vicky and Sally will all be in action, along with current and former juniors Emma Huxley and Hannah Richmond. Come along and give them a cheer!
