LADIES MARVELS ARE KNOCKED OUT AT THE QUARTER FINALS

Sunday 26th March, Ladies Marvels vs Barnes in the Quarter Finals. 9-1 loss and so our team is knocked out the cup

At a time of fake news and alternative facts, it was a relief to hear a Blackheath spectator cheer, “You’re all over them”, for in that instant, they were as Jilly scored an amazing goal passed an over-taxed Barnes goalie. Blackheath’s goalie Beccs had to retire early due to an injury received during a self-less act of saving, for Barnes did have a go or two at scoring, but Annette, her substitute similarly flung herself into harm’s way, earning the approbation of her team and the opposition.

Blackheath used the game to showcase their determination, stamina, age-related strengths and weaknesses, sheer guts and sportsmanship. No ball went unchallenged, no tackle lacked commitment. Yet despite inconsistencies and the lack of a game plan, Barnes managed to stay ahead of the hounds.
Final score Blackheath 1-9.
