“Why is my name spelt so small on the back of my shirt?”
Whilst it was a conscious decision by the committee to do so, quite a few members have told us they were sorry to see the ability to personalise the Club playing shirt disappear with the previous kit supplier. So from this autumn it is being re-introduced once again by popular demand. In addition to putting your squad number onto the shirt, for an extra £3.00 you will also be able to add your name, therefore enabling both opponents and teammates alike to recognise just whose silky stick skills they are wistfully admiring across the astroturf. It is not mandatory, merely an option for those who wish to do so.
And in terms of embroidered initials on other garments (track suit tops, hoodies, gilets etc.) we are now going to standardise the sizing of these. Last season the style and size of lettering was not always consistent, varying from ½" tall to very large, and sometimes even full stops appeared after individual letters too. Henceforward the general appearance will be for a maximum of three letters in a block, non-serif typeface, with no punctuation, and approximately 1" tall … so "tasteful, but not tiny".
