The Club are delighted to announce the appointment of the experienced Will Nurse as our new Men’s 1st Team Head Coach.

Will is a very experienced coach with over 15 years of elite team coaching at a highly competitive level and also brings 10 years of National League playing knowledge with him. He joins us from Tulse Hill & Dulwich HC where he has been Men's 1st Team Head Coach for the past two seasons.

The Club are confident that Will has all the attributes to guide and lead our young and talented 1st XI Squad to promotion this season. Will has already begun work coaching the team through their Lee Valley Summer League matches plus leading fitness and on pitch sessions.

Our Director of Hockey Edd Thorogood enthused: ' We are delighted to have Will on board. The club is in a great position to push on and challenge for promotion to South Hockey League Premier Div 1 and in Will we believe we have the experience and tactical acumen to get us there.'

Chairman Matt Wilde adds: "After a long, detailed and extensive recruitment process we are absolutely delighted we have secured Will as our new Men’s 1st Team Head Coach. Will comes with a great reputation and an excellent knowledge of hockey at this level and above. Will is passionate about the game, with high standards and a real desire to win. He recently led THD to a respectable 3rd and 4th position, narrowly missing out on promotion, in this extremely competitive South Hockey League Premier Division. However, I’m certain that with our hugely talented, tremendously committed and driven group of players we have the right recipe for success to go one step further and clinch that much desired promotion.

We are equally pleased that Chris Harden, our inspirational Captain and the SHL Premier Division top scorer last season with 34 goals will continue to Skipper the team. His impressive leadership qualities coupled with unerring dedication and ambition adds a huge amount to the team. Together with our brilliant Director of Hockey; Edd Thorogood, we have a Management Team that is committed to success and high achievement. Bring on the new season!"

Will Nurse - Men’s 1st Team Head Coach

As a player, Will had a Premier League career spanning approximately 10 years, starting at Hounslow HC in 1996, before moving to Teddington HC in 1998. From there he joined Hampstead & Westminster HC in 2001 and enjoyed several successful seasons with them before retiring from top level hockey in 2005 to concentrate on his coaching career. He returned to the National League for a season in 2009/10 playing NL Conference East at Bromley & Beckenham HC.
Will coached Tulse Hill Ladies 1st XI for a season, before they merged with Dulwich Ladies and went on to coach THD Women's 1st XI for the next 12 years. With them he achieved promotion into the South Premier League, where they consistently achieved a top 4 finish. He also took them to the EH Investec Trophy final four times – winning it twice.
In 2015 Will was approached to coach the Tulse Hill & Dulwich Mens 1st XI, which he has done for the past 2 seasons. Last season Will was also the Lead Coach of our very successful and expanding Mixed U8 Juniors.
