Sunday was a real learning curve for the u12 rebels. The two draws and 3 losses do not reflect the growth the boys have continued to show through each week and tournament. The first game was a shock, as the boys were all cold and struggling to keep their hands warm. However, they battled on and managed to grind put a draw, with many chances to go ahead.
The next couple games were a bit more intense than the previous, coming up against some strong opposition. Some brilliant passing between the boys managing a few shots on goal that were very near to putting us in front. Missed chances aside some strong defensive efforts were unfairly punished by the opposition and we lost three straight matches. The results not showing how close the games were.
The boys learnt quickly that holding onto the ball and dribbling would not see us scoring goals. The realisation sparked the boys onto some brilliant phases of passing play and teamwork that were deserving of goals, but it was not to be so. The last match ended in a tight draw with either side unable to snatch the win.
The boys were impressive all day with interpassing as well as their high work rates in the very cold weather. one thing we can improve on is our strength with passing and carrying the ball.
The Standout performer today was Toby.
