Kent Club In2hockey Tournament
U12 Boys Rebels
he Kent championships for the U12 boys was our final tournament for the season.
The previous tournaments had been vital learning points for the boys.
The morning started slowly, as it always does on a Sunday morning. Our first match was against Holcombe, whom we had played before. They were a good team, who we knew would be tough. A slow start meant we made it tough for ourselves and some unfortunate turnovers lead to a Holcombe goal. We responded well and began to move the ball, but struggled a little up front with the final passes. Which resulted in a 1-0 loss.
The next two matches against Brom Becks and Folkstone were close encounters, with steady improvement in our passing play and tackling. Two losses but that is not how we measure learning. Some unlucky play made it tough for the boys to keep their chins up.
The few changes we did make paid dividends in the next match.
A brilliant game from the Rebels saw some fantastic interpassing and shots going past both posts.
The opposition keeper had a tough time with Ralph, Daniel, Charlie and Myles.
Which lead to some brilliant individual play from Toby for our first goal of the day.
1-0 win against Burnt Ash.
The last match was difficult as Marden were a solid opposition. 4 previous games may have left the boys a bit tired, But Ollie in goal played brilliantly. A couple unfortunate goals (with questionable legitimacy) meant a final loss.
The biys improved well throughout the day, improving with each match. One thing we should all improve upon is keeping positive. Mistakes will happen, learn from them. If you make a mistake just forget about it!!!! Keep your head up and keep playing! Nobody doesn’t make mistakes.
Thank you for the season boys, it was a pleasure to coach you all.
