Early League Leaders Lock Horns At College Meadow
Missed chances cost BEHC the three points
This weekend saw BEHC face early league leaders Tunbridge wells. A South East grudge match with both teams looking to stamp their authority on the league in the early rounds.
BEHC started calmly resisting a number of early attacks from Tunbridge Wells before Dave Lawrence won a short corner with some silky skills which was duly dispatched by the boys.
Dave then got himself on the scoresheet with a mazy run beating the entire back four before rounding the keeper to slot the ball in the goal.
Tunbridge Wells pulled ones back before BEHC were awarded a penalty flick for a reckless, cynical foul from the opposition. Unfortunately, captain, Chris Harden hit the post and couldn't convert the opportunity.
Half time came and the crowd and players drew breath.
Tunbridge Wells came out on the front foot and BEHC soon found themselves down to 10 men with a questionable yellow card being brandished. The opposition made the most of this advantage and managed to score 2 goals to give them a 1 goal ascendancy.
BEHC knocked hard at the door for the last 15 minutes but were unable to convert a number of chances which game their way.
A sense of deflation flowed through the team at the final whistle knowing what could have been. But being so early in the season the high ambitions of the team still remain strong.
A day at the seaside awaits the team next week with a Bournemouth away fixture which will be followed by Tommy Archer's 26th? 30th? 35th birthday shenanigans.
Thanks to the crowd on Saturday for your support and we look forward to seeing you all at the next home fixture.
