MATCHING KIT MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE

Blackheath & Elthamians 4 - 1 BBHC

Blackheath & Elthamians Ladies 1s faced BBHC at home in their first match of the season. They certainly made their mark on the league with a convincing win, placing them second in the table. This was all the more satisfying after loosing to BBHC in a pre-season match just a few weeks ago.

For the first time since records began, the ladies 1st team were all in matching socks, skorts and shirts, there was a feeling that it was going to be a good day. Both teams started at a high intensity with BEHC passing well throughout the pitch, and the forwards setting the standard high with some great running. This was soon rewarded as Jenna made a perfectly timed run in to the ‘D’ to smash home a ball coming in from Jilly. 1-0.

BEHC started to maintain possession and overloaded the BBHC defence. Vicky made a good reverse attempt at goal, Sue attempted a rebound hit which saw her beat the goalie but not a BBHC defenders foot. A penalty flick was awarded and Sue made it look easy. 2-0. The BEHC defence and midfield held possession well, won 50/50 balls and marked tight under the great direction of keeper Sarah. The pace and focus didn’t subside and Jenna’s running again paid off as she found herself unmarked in the ‘D’. She didn’t miss the chance and smashed the ball first time in to the back of the goal. 3-0. A lapse of concentration led to a BBHC goal towards the end of the first half, but BEHC weren’t going to be beaten. 3-1.

BEHC stepped on to the field in the second half determined to hold on to their lead and to create more goals by passing well around the pitch and reducing turnovers in their half. They succeeded and did it with style. A great BEHC cross in to the opposition’s ‘D' resulted in man-of-the-match Emma scoring whilst making a back-post dive Alex Danson would be proud of! 4-1. Emma was also awarded EOF award for misplacing the aforementioned new kit!

The winning feeling never disappoints, BEHC walked off the pitch with their heads held high ready for next week’s top of the table clash against Kings Alleyns.
