No, in fact it was a superb one preceded by lots of goal attacks, great defending and sheer will to win
10 am at College Meadow, three days before Halloween, the match could have been a morbid affair, but it started with a great half-pitch run by Caitlin Chick into the goal area, reverse stick shot on goal, saved by the Gravesend goalie. A short corner next saw a beautiful goal by Hannah Morrel of Blackheath. Not content with one, she slotted away another goal, passed by captain Netty Grabham. Many goal attempts were rebuffed by the Gravesend goalie who was superb but truly kept busy. Rebecca Ward made an amazing save second half that drew breath from all supporters. Kat Allix was conspicuous in her non-stop action, making ground and defending often in the same move. Karen Stevenson was vocal in directing team position during play and attacking the goal repeatedly. There were numerous short corners for Blackheath but only one hit home. Stand out players were Karen Stevenson, ‘Thanks for Coming’ winner, Hannah Morrel, Player of the Match and Robyn, ‘Should Have Gone to Specsavers’. With the same team cohesion and quality of captaincy, Blackheath will do it again next week.
Final Score Blackheath 2-0.
