First point earned in sizzling season opener

New season, new league, bring it on!
The 2s returned to action in a new league after being champions last season. There was excitement, trepidation, and luckily Nu had forgotten her kit the night before so there was still time to rustle up a spare shirt and socks.
The TFC nominations were off to an early start with Rosie not being able to read massive signs reading home and away above the dug outs, asking "which one is ours?"
The 2s started strongly with great transferring and interceptions. The oppo fought hard for possession, but we managed to dominate and Robyn van N bagged a smasher of a goal.
The sun beat down on the team, but with some smooth subbing our fresh legs allowed us to keep a 1 nil lead as the half time whistle blew. A quick regroup, team talk from Netty and lots of water to quench our thirst saw us ready to go back out fighting.
Suddenly, the track was changed, Pinball Wizard rang out as a 4 stick deflection from Old Bords saw the score levelled with 20 minutes to go. We increased the pressure and fought hard to the end. We had one final chance for redemption with a penalty corner in the closing minutes, but it wasn't to be and the final score was 1-1.
Back to the clubhouse for delicious birthday cake for Zoe and her amazing saves meant the birthday girl bagged woman of the match too! Cake and a bear!
A hot, but enjoyable match, that demonstrated we were ready for the new season and the challenge of a new league. Bring it on!
