SUCCESS AGAINST OLD WILL'S
By Jenny Seale
Old Will's 0 - 1 Ladies 2's
This week saw the second eleven away at Old Willies. Netty started us off with an inspiring huddle and ensured that the persistent and, at times, horizontal rain did not dampen our spirits. Hard work from the off from the whole team helped us to bag a goal in the first half, placed neatly into the corner by Lucy, from a well worked short corner.
Emma and Holly connected well pushing our attack forward and threatening a possible second goal. Holly was tenacious in their territory putting them under pressure.
Nicole showed her attacking prowess by being at the right place at the right time (on the left post) for some good crosses into the D. However, it was not meant to be. I blame the slippery sticks!
Karen worked hard up the right to pile in a few dangerous looking crosses and danced around the defenders in the D to achieve several short corners.
Rosie and Netty kept their composure against a frustrated opposition and held the shape in the middle of the pitch blocking the path of many attacking through balls.
Old Willies looked dangerous at times and mounted several attacks. Ali, Hannah and Nu worked hard and communicated well at the back to guarantee that the assaults by Old Willies were absorbed.
Zoe displayed her focus by saving the ball with her toe when it was necessary, which was one of only two times she touched the ball during the game.
Kat dug deep and fought her instincts to wallop the ball up the pitch by keeping possession in our defensive quarter of the pitch to ensure the victory was ours!
Little Emma had a cracking game achieving player of the match.
Nu was utterly unjustly voted TFC!
A fantastic, team performance from all, well done.
A special mention and massive thanks to Emma Wreathall who braved the weather to assist with subs and generally sent out positive vibes from the dug out. Thank you also for the amazing support from the third eleven women and Rich.
Next week’s aim: to score more than one goal?!
