BE Ladies 2s result was as disappointing as the weather.
The ladies 2s travelled to Marden and finally found their ground in the middle of open fields and a building site after using a graveyard as the indicator they had arrived We started off slowly and failed to maintain the usual pressure and high play we have been using of late. The young legs of Emma Holly Caitlin and Hannah made Marden have to defend hard and whilst we had some great opportunities it just wasn't to be. Despite the efforts of the defence Marden broke us down and got a cheeky rebound before half time. Marden continued their force in the second half and scored 2 more goals. BEs didn't give up though and pushed up high and got several penalty corners and our fighting spirit prevailed and the pressure caused them to make a mistake and hand us a penalty stroke. Lucy H calmly stepped up to the spot and put it away. Things were looking up (except the weather) but a break by the yellow team got them another goal that meant equalising or winning was just out of reach but we remain positive that this was just a DETOUR from our usual play. Player of the match went to Kathryn Sales for her great defensive play calming Influence at the back in times of trouble and crosses across the back. TFC went to Ali when she finally arrived after driving past the ground at least 4 times. Going past 2 graveyards and gravitating to a pub called the Unicorn on two occasions and then 10 minutes before the start needing to have a Marden player talk her through the 5 second journey from the unicorn to the ground after Karen had given up the will to live trying to explain !!!!
