Finding Dory or finding the back of the net!
So the last Saturday of the month of January has arrived, with the second half of the season well underway. Even after loss the week before spirits where high with the team and the grit and determination was clear from the start of the game.
Full speed ahead, as both sides were furious in the start of the game, hungry for that first goal. Unfortunately for BE, Marden struck first even though the play had been with the home side. Marden had won a short corner, and this goal came from a well worked set piece with the lay off to the left and strike on goal, unfortunately coming off a BE player, deflecting past Zoe in to the goal.
BE 0 – Marden 1
This did not dampen the BE side, with even more gusto and willpower as team were united and hit Marden with wave upon wave of attack. With Lucy, Kat & Nicole striding down the left, Netty, Hannah R, Robyn and Amanda attacking with grace down the middle and Karen and Emma annoying with their twist and turns down the right.
These attacks finally broke down the Marden wall, with Amanda striking the ball towards goal rebounding off the keeper where Robyn was waiting to slot the ball in to the back of the goal.
BE 1 – Marden 1
This saw BE even more fired up, and want to take the lead before the half time whistle was blown. The BE attack was joined by the defence of Hannah, Nu and Kathryn also pushing high to get the next goal. This saw the Marden defence camping out in their out defensive D area, with multiple shorts and short corners awarded to BE, but unfortunately to no avail with the Marden keeper pulling not only single shorts but great double saves.
The second half break saw coach Rob and Netty giving clear instructions on how to proceed in the second half and after that again BE went to work attacking the Marden opposition. Wave after wave of attack from BEHC with their keeper pulling off some great saves and another day BEHC would have scored 4 or 5 goals to win the game.
However Marden were also hunting for that winning goal, and with 5 minutes remaining on the clock a Marden attack saw the BE defence clearing numerous attacks however one attack passage got through and even with a great save by Zoe unfortunately the ball fell kindly in to the path of a Marden attack who slotted it in to the goal.
BE 1 – Marden 2
Amazing team spirit, and true grit shown by all playing, but unfortunately not the result BE L2’s desired. However the team where lifted with the celebration of Kathryn birthday and yet again amazing cupcakes made by Robyn (sweet celebrations by Robyn).
Emma was awarded with player of the match for yet another fantastic performance and Yanoulla (again) was awarded TFC, for yet again being late to the match.
On to the next match, for what will be a fantastic show of the clubs ladies talent with BE L2’s taking on BEL1’s side who are yet to drop any points this season, so will be a spectacular and wonderful match to come and watch.
