A 5 STAR REVIEW FOR A 5-0 WIN
First game of the new season and its off to a smashing start
It was a warm and bright afternoon in September for the first league game of the new season. We had a new captain, new kit and new formation but with two pre season friendlies in the bag, we felt strong and ready to go.
From the moment the whistle blew, we created triangles, spread the play wide and the ball flew effortlessly between us. BBHC defence soon packed out the D but we drew the ball around the outside and skilfully ping ponged the ball through players and into the goal.
The were some beautiful goals from our well trained forward line: The first two were from Amanda, one of our newest recruits for this season. A spectacular reverse tap by captain Nicky and our youngest player Hannah, popped in the last goal before half time making the score 4-0.
Half time talk was a bit of a blur. It was hot, we were perhaps slightly dehydrated and adrenaline was pumping through our veins.
The whistle blew for the beginning of the second half and BBHC half time talk had clearly helped. Although we remained dominant, BBHC stepped up their game and became a much harder challenge compared to the first half. However our defence made up of Helen, Cat B and Socks was a solid wall; intercepting passes and driving back to the forward line.
Our midfield had legs that never seemed to stop running! Kylie, Ali and Rosie were determined to seal another goal before the final whistle. Our time came with 7 minutes left as we were awarded another penalty corner. Injected accurately by our 'Fox in the box Carmel', she slipped it to Emma who deflected it into the goal.
A brilliant start to the season and there were plenty of high fives during our victory lap, (well......cool down jog). Team spirit was at an all time high and man of the match was awarded to both Amanda and Rosie for their tireless efforts. Top of the table and top of our game. Let's hope it continues throughout the season!
