BEHC Ladies 3XI vs Tunbridge Wells 3-0!

By

Eeh by gum...reyt good match!

Blackheath Ladies 3’s took on Tunbridge Wells Ladies 4’s on a surprisingly hot and sunny Spring morning.

Kate 'Socks' Wilkinson got us ready for the match with a thorough warm up and stretch session including warrior poses and one legged squats (for those of us who could do them) before Rosie Mills lead a quick but effective warm up in the pitch. We were ready and raring to go.

It was a frustrating first half for Blackheath. Good defensive work from the opposition lead to Blackheath struggling to settle and find their rhythm. However, persistent work from the forward line of Amanda, Carmel, Robyn and Grace lead to Blackheath winning a number of short corners. The opposition defended these well and the score line at half time was 0-0.

After a passionate but straight talking half time team talk from Captain Nicky, the ladies knew what they had to do in the second half and got straight to it. The amazing support from the Blackheath supporters also helped to lift the team.

Pressure started to build from the mid line of Kate D, Rosie, Socks, Nicky, Cat B and Magui. This pressure lead to the ball being passed onto Amanda where she beat a number of the opposition and the ball ended in the back of the net. Blackheath 1-0.

This goal took away some of the pressure, however the ladies were well aware that the job was far from done. The second goal came all the way from Ali in the back line, through some brilliant passing triangles in the mid line before some brilliant work in the opposition D again from Amanda lead to Blackheath scoring the second goal. 2-0.

The third and final goal again came from pressure building in the mid-line. An amazing strike from Cat B to Carmel in the opposition D lead to a slip to Amanda on the left. Blackheath 3-0 and an amazing hat-trick to Amanda.

Whilst this took away some of the pressure, the match was far from over. Strong play from the opposition lead to them winning a short-corner. Cat B was straight out as runner but the ball hit a Blackheath foot in the D leading to second shirt corner. Strong defensive work from Cat B, Helen, Ali and Magui with strong guidance from goalkeeper Becks prevented the opposition from scoring, with the final result Blackheath 3-0.

A great and well fought game with a brilliant debut to the third team for youngster Grace. WOTW went to Kate ‘takes it up the middle Socks not Sucks’ Wilkinson for great work in the mid. DOTD to Amanda ‘can’t park but I sure as hell can score’ Sibanda.

Off t’ next match we go. 18 down 3 to go!!!!
