BEHC Ladies 3XI vs Cliftonville 13-0!

Lucky number 13!

The sunshine was out as Blackheath Ladies 3XI were about to play their final match of the 2018/2019 season. After some encouraging words from our captain Nicky Affleck and some positive 'All I do is Win' vibes from Emma Wreathall the team was ready to play.

Blackheath started strong and were quickly rewarded with a textbook goal, finished by Jaz. It was not long until a second goal was scored by Amanda after an epic drive to the D and a cross into the back of the net. Cat Drum did not want to miss out on the action so after a smack, bang and wallop the ladies were 3-0 up. Cliftonville's youth and fast sided team placed some pressure on the defence line but Helen and Ali managed to keep them at bay. To finish off the first half, after a tonk in from Cat Bryden, Carmel was positioned perfectly by the goal to finish it off. The first half was over but the desire for more goals was not.

In the second half, Blackheath were straight back in with a strike and follow up from Carmel. Another tap in from Carmel awarded her with a hat-trick and Blackheath were leading 6-0. Amanda shortly followed with another goal by dribbling it over the line. After some tense short corners, Kate Dunford, making her debut in Centre Mid executed a perfect slip slap slop to push Blackheath to 8-0.

Not wanting to let Carmel be the only player to score a hat-trick, Amanda performed a reverse sweep to score another goal. After another great run from Amanda and a 2-1 with Kylie, a goal was tapped across the line by Kylie to push Blackheath into double figures. No one was ready for the next goal, when Emma made a run up the right mid, and whacked the ball over the keeper's head making it 10-0. After a game of pinball in the D, Carmel managed to tap it over the line to score her 4th goal of the game. Finally, with little time left Emma ran into the D again and smashed it into the top left hand corner of the goal to provide her with a second goal and Blackheath with a 13-0 win.

A great game against a great opposition who never gave up. A perfect way to end the season.

Doughnut of the day went to Emma for playing the wrong position for a good 5 minutes and player of the match went to Kate Dunners for excellent play in her centre mid debut.

The L3XI secure 2nd place in a new division with the possibility of a back to back promotion. Hopefully more celebrations to come!

An incredible season in Division 3 by a hard working and committed group of ladies! #thatsawrap
