To those of you still unaware and for those who did not attend the Men’s AGM recently. Blackheath Legend Andy ‘The B’ Bartlett receivied a specially framed BOEHC shirt with photographs highlighting his 25+ years of devotion and loyalty to ‘The Club’.
Andy, who now lives in deepest, darkest Sussex and has been slogging up to The Meadow for home games all season, will now be plying his trade at Mid Sussex HC (10 mins from his house!) with brother-in-law and another Blackheath Legend; Andy Couves. This isn’t a final goodbye - he will always be Blackheath no matter where he plays – it’s in his blood – it flows blue and red. I’m sure we’ll see him in our Kent Cup Vets Squad and at various other events and occasions.
Below is the inlaid text which accompanies the framed shirt. I think these words best summarise and encapsulate the hugely significant role Andy has played at the club – the auto biography (illustrated) with extended prose will follow I’m sure.
