Blackheath and Elthamians Under-14 girls got off to a strong start on Sunday at Sevenoaks. Ria Bennett-Lee, Nell Williams, Leah Davies, Hannah Bridge, Isla Thomas and Amelia Lewis caused havoc and led to winning the first short corner of the match.
In the 15th minute, the teamwork paid off with Ria Bennett-Lee scoring the first goal, followed by Nell Williams scoring in the 16th minute and again in the 17th minute.
Blackheath remained dominant and in the 22nd minute, Orla Wyatt scored the fourth goal of the match from a short corner. Unfortunately, Sevenoaks scored in the 27th minute despite strong defending from Semirah Harte, Amelia Couper, Orla Wyatt, Evie Costello, Polly Chamberlain, Ria Kamat, Rebecca Anderson and Ellie Kinch.
Blackheath bounced back and Amelia Lewis scored in the 30th minute and Rebecca Anderson scored in the 33rd minute, making it 6-1.
After half-time, Blackheath scored three more goals, taking the final score to 9-1! The goals were scored by Hannah Bridge (46th minute) and Isla Thomas in the 50th minute and 51st after an incredible restart leading to a very quick goal.
The team voted Leah Davies to be their player of the match and the coaches were very proud of how well the girls played and are looking forward to Sunday’s match away at Canterbury. Well done team!
