The Under-10 girls shine in the cold winter sunshine of Folkestone in the Kent Cup

Blackheath and Elthamians took two sides down to Folkestone for the Kent Cup on Sunday.
The Bulldogs can consider themselves unlucky not to make it through to the semi-finals from their eight-team pool. Across their seven matches, they conceded only two goals - both leading to 1-0 defeats. They won four of the other five, with the other game finishing goalless.
In normal years that record would have been good enough for a top two spot in their pool and a semi-final berth, but instead they were left third.
In the other pool, the Dragons faced tough opposition - and were distinctive unlucky to lose the first match to an austere Tunbridge Wells A string 1-0. In the next match, Emily Ralston playing in goal was immense but couldn't stop Canterbury winning 2-0. But then came the revival, a 1-0 victory over Holcombe - Georgia Craiglucky finishing off excellent work by Nicole Riley - was followed by an impressive 2-0 win over Bombecks, Isla Nisbet scoring first before Oliva Dewar set up Nicole. In both victories Tilly Stafford and Lyra Couper teamed up well in defence.
The next three games were against Sevenoaks, Ashford and Marden's A Strings and unfortunately all ended in defeat. However, notably Isla was still easily the stand out player of the match for both sides in the heavy defeat against Ashford and Emily continued to show her prowess in goal.
