Sunday saw the climax of our 10 week Junior Summer Junior Coaching sessions with a sun drenched visit to Lee Valley. Here our youngsters were able to tread in the footsteps of their heroes and heroines whose awesomeness they have witnessed over the last few weeks at the Hockey World League Semi Finals. Glorious sunshine bathed the players, parents, families, coaches and the stadium for a truly inspiring and unforgettable day. Our young players whizzed about on the top class water based surface emulating the goals and skills of those internationals they'd recently watched. Three sessions over 5 hours gave all the Juniors from our U6s to our U16s who could attend, the opportunity for plenty of pitch time to play games and matches. This annual event is a really important part of the Junior calendar as it serves as a great reward for all their efforts over the season but also as an immensely inspirational and motivational experience that we hope will stay with them for a long time. It was great to see so many parents and families there too enjoying the experience and topping up their tans.
Huge thanks to one of our Senior Coaches and Treasurer Ravi Wickramasuriya and Junior Secretary Amanda Hutchings for organising this event. Hats off to all the Coaches and Assistants who helped make this day so special. Special thanks to Paul Munday and all the staff at Lee Valley HTC for all their help and support. And finally massive thanks also to all our coaches who have led the youngsters so brilliantly over the last 10 weeks.
Over 150 Juniors have participated each week at our summer sessions with enormous enthusiasm and a fantastic sense of fun and commitment. Many new members have been able to try out the sport or get a taste of our club and we hope to welcome them along with all our regular junior members when we reconvene in September.
So for now. Enjoy the rest of your summer and have fun wherever you go and whatever you do.
Be Proud Be Worthy
(NOTE: It's only two months before the season begins and we'll see you all again!)
