This is certainly nothing to C-R-Y about.

In October the BEHC's girls' U14s and 16s teams will be taking to the field in unique playing kits thanks to the extreme generosity of a junior member's parent, who has individually purchased two full sets of shirts as a "personal sponsor" to the Club.

In the continuing absence of a permanent commercial sponsor for the junior section, the donor in question asked that we consider putting a charity name on the front of the shirt, a bit like Barcelona FC did in the past with unicef. After due consideration, Club representatives decided to continue its association with C-R-Y, the screening charity which assesses Cardiac Risk in the Young, hence the acronym. Full details of the charity can be found on facebook, or via their website at https://www.c-r-y.org.uk/.

This is such an excellent initiative on so many fronts, so a big vote of thanks is due to all those involved in this process, but most of all to the wonderful and generous gesture from one of the girls' parents.

On a longer-term note, however, shirt sponsorship is a vital revenue stream for BEHC, so the ongoing lack of a suitable commercial name for the junior kit is a genuine concern. If you know of any individuals or businesses who might be interested in considering sponsorship of the Club, please let either Stephen Gilbert, Matt Wilde, or indeed any member of the committee know. With several hundred active junior players now playing hockey at BEHC, the shirt "visibility" is not inconsiderable.
