Blackheath coasted to a 3-0 win over Sevenoaks in the Kent League on Sunday

Blackheath coasted past Sevenoaks at St Dunstan’s College on Sunday in the Kent League, winning comfortably 3-0.
The hosts were helped considerably by a fixtures mix-up which saw their expected opponents Tunbridge Wells fail to show – Sevenoaks were due to play in the latter match at the same venue and stepped in.
And from the very first hit it was one-way traffic. Grace Grabham was a dynamo in midfield and forced the first save from the visitors’ goalkeeper – who had been in action the day before for Sevenoaks Ladies.
Two efforts from Fiona Windsor and a further effort from Amelia Lewis were also repelled before Blackheath finally got on the scoresheet. Amelia Lewis fed Fiona who stroked it onto Robyn Steel for a neat finish.
Nina Burdon was then denied by another outstanding save as it increasingly became a contest between Blackheath and the visitors’ stopper.
By this stage Nell Williams, Robyn and Fiona were dominant and were cutting through the visitors at will.
At the back Paige Daysh and Poppy Stockton were utterly untroubled and Dulcie Rhodes was equally comfortable there when she was called into action. And Amelia Couper easily broke up any attacks coming down the left flank. Louisa Morris meanwhile was having a field day in midfield.
The second half ended 1-0, but it didn’t take much of the second period before Blackheath finally got their second. Nina was denied at point blank but in the following scramble she finished nicely to double Blackheath’s lead.
It was not until 10 minutes into the second half before a cold Katie Brown in the Blackheath goal was finally called into action.
By now coach Jeanette Grabham was rotating freely and experimenting all over the field. Among the changes Amelia Couper was given a try as a centre forward – the first time she had played there in her four years at the club. It paid off immediately. Neat work by Paige fed Robyn who teed up the debutant centre forward to finish neatly at the far post.
Amelia Couper nearly added her second moments later. She broke through, made a neat run but her effort was superbly turned away. She came close again moments later as Blackheath continued to dominate and Louisa had the hosts last shot, but the fourth goal wouldn’t come and they had to settle for an easy 3-0 win.
