Dynamos down but juniors rise from the ashes

Saturday October 4th 2014 will forever be known as the birth of the Dynamos and the start of the next chapter in the long and colourful history of Blackheath and OEs.

The lineup had a mix of the old and the young, the experienced and the debutants and also a keeper who has not played on field in 2 years.

At 3 PM the match got underway and by 315 BOE were 2-0 down and skipper Sturgess realised why we were being beaten all ends up so rapidly took himself off the pitch. This steadied the ship and gave the junior delegation of James Smith, Bobby Archer and Tom Farrant time to settle in to the game.

Time ticked by and BOE got stronger and stronger and after 30 minutes a move entered the Holcombe D and as the ball was looking to go in a foot appeared to stop the ball. This gave BOE a chance to score from the penalty spot.

Oli Payne stepped up for the flick but put it straight into the keepers unmentionables. Once the keeper could stand again Holcombe resumed with a 16 yard hit.

Half time came 2-0 down but energy high. Skipper gave words of encouragement back up by the young Ravi Wick.

Second half started as the first finished with all the pressure on the holcombe goal. Holcombe first attack was stopped by Rhys Edwards using his head quite literally to stop the ball and the opponents stick leading to a cut above the eye and the end of his game.

3 or 4 early shorts came to nothing and Holcombe were relying on fast breaks that were constantly being stopped by the solid defence with Matt Deeley, James Smith and Mark Robert working excellently to keep the Medway boys at bay.

More shorts came through the rest of the game but to no avail. The final score 2-0 to Holcombe.

Not the start the history books would want but an extremely strong debut for Elthamians James Smith who was solid as a rock at centre back. Bobby Archer showing signs that he is already as good in a tackle as his older brother in the 1s and a nervous but no less impressive debut from Tom Farrant as his dad watched on.

James Smith picked up the first MOM of the season.

This team will go from strength to strength. Roll on next week and Burnt Ash Vets.
