Sparking Dynamos shock Folkestone

Returning from the Fives game in Ashford, I found our fully charged Dynamos had a 2-0 lead thanks to young Harry Southgate and New Old Dan who is finding his feet again very quickly. This game was always going to be tricky as Folkestone had withdrawn a team from 2 leagues above which obviously would strengthen their 2 "lower" teams. But the Dynamos have gone from strength to strength this season and are a force to be reckoned with.

All the young guns show extreme maturity with their ball skills and composure. They don't panic, and even in tight situations just look for the simple pass to get out of trouble. Tom Farrant in particular demonstrated class beyond his years. Couple this enthusiasm with the "midfield machine" David Leverton, the steadfast Mark Farrant at the back (complete with a Maltman antique) and Matt (have you really only just started playing) Southgate and we have formed a proper team.!!

They guys passed cleanly and surely and put together some fine moves (if we had done this in the Fives...) Folkestone did creep back into the game in the second half and clawed a goal back from an almighty strong strike at a short corner. Young Seb had no chance and it was a shame that he didn't come away with a clean sheet as he had a fantastic game.

The greatest memory of this game for me will be "the greatest goal that never was"
The first shot was a tomahawk from the left side of the goal which the keeper parried out almost along the byline. Who would have the audacity to try a second shot from this impossible angle?? Ronaldo if he played hockey - definitely. Lionel Messi if he played hockey - maybe. Ashley Young (GB hockey) - probably not.
Young James Elliot - hell yeah!! Not only did James take the shot, he hit it clean and strong and high, managing to hit both posts and the crossbar (we think) before rolling off the pitch. All players and umpires were unsure of exactly what had happened. This was the icing on another fine performance from James.

Well done guys on a fantastic result and a fantastic season so far. Keep it going.
