No, not a firm of lawyers but the condition of a few of the BEs team as they moved off the start line, only then to return with indecent haste following SBs first nippy goal. BEs could only look on as SB comfortably scored their second with well-rehearsed moves and confidence aplenty. BEs then kept top of the division SB at 2-0 for the rest of the first half, leaving SB unhappy with their low-digit performance and a little perplexed. BEs came out second half with less lactate and more drive, desire and belief, hunting and gathering quick balls, breaching defences and scoring a most welcome goal by Gina. Flow was palpable, bronchioles cleared and Achilles accepted his fate (thank you Kirsty) as all grafted hard and long, keeping the flame alive and singeing SB enough to prevent their score from changing. Whilst BEs didn’t equalise on the pitch, they surpassed their opponents in grit, teamwork and lactate denial.
Player of the Match went to Nat, ‘Cesca and Claire for outstanding performances. Wally of the Match went (with much love as she came to support us) to Juliette for baking blind.
Final Score Blackheath 1-2.
