Due to traffic issues Blackheath started with 10 players and were immediately under pressure from a well organised and cohesive Burnt Ash team. After a short time Blackheath were up to full strength with Holly, last weeks goal scoring forward, putting in a great stint in defence.
The game evened out a little but Burnt Ash pressed forward and found themselves in space on the left side of the D, a cracking shot followed and duly beat the keeper to the top right corner.
Blackheath persisted and after a saved shot at the Burnt Ash end, Georgia collected the rebound and Cat converted to take us to the break at 1 all.
A good tactical call from Cat meant some reorganising in the Blackheath formation which paid dividends when Ita drilled in a goal from the top D to put the away team in the lead midway through the 2nd half. The reshuffle seemed to allow Blackheath more space on the ball and with some timely interceptions from Jakki and Pringle the momentum shifted firmly in Blackheath's favour. A few more chances came Blackheath's way but it was a good days work for Cat who managed to convert again to make it 3-1. Some brilliant covering defence from Hannah and a spate of top saves from Sandra meant there were no additions to the score line.
It was a fantastic match with the youngsters once again playing some very impressive hockey.
Man of the match was awarded to Hannah (we remembered to vote at teas this week!) for a great display in defence and attack.
Thanks to Angela for umpiring this week.
