The week between Saturday matches can hold many experiences such as near-death traffic accidents, unsupportive bosses, passing pets and knotted hips, all distilling into a Saturday squad, eager to put it behind them and win. This match was therefore more than just the taking part, it was friends supporting each other on and off the pitch, especially against Gravesend, who were physical and aggressive. BE’s attacked constantly and were attacked, Hannah hitting the deck at one point, but they pulled together and by the end of first half, were leading 3-1. Gravesend meanwhile were splitting apart. BE’s Fit Bit was Alex who ran many, many steps to gain and regain possession, sprinting metres up wing and crossing into the circle for forwards to take successful shots on goal. Iona was crucial in defence and working with Daphne, both were almost impenetrable. Kate too took many steps as she charged up field from Gravesend’s circle. Carmel itched to score then bagged her two. Socks also scored two, one was a short corner masterpiece. Nicky, Alice and Gina scored one each, corkers.
Wallies of the Match went to Gina for a pitch navigation error and Hannah for falling so painfully, whilst Man of the Match went unanimously to Alex for being so fantastic.
Final score a great win, 7-2.
