The Men's 1st Team come from behind three times to seal memorable EH Trophy victory

After an outstanding 7-3 league win vs Crawley the day before the lads made it 11 goals in 2 days to record a victorious weekend double header. 'Whatever you do - We'll score more than you!'' seems to be the message the BOE Men's 1's are sending out and to be fair if that's what happens each week then it will secure them a win every time they head out. This was another classic game as tired bodies from the day before on both sides took to the field and some of the promising lads in the second team were given a run out.

Now this team don't seem to really like taking the lead and true to form went 1-0 down after 5 minutes. A defensive mix up left the goal at the OBHC strikers mercy and that was that. It wasn't long before man of the moment and star striker Chris Harden found the net with a superb drag flick to the left hand side of the goal via the keepers stick. OBHC would have a reply and they too flicked to go ahead but it would only get BOE back on the attack. It was BOE dominating with OBHC sending an aerial bombardment to counter attack and threaten the BOE goal.

However, the home side didn't wait long to equalise with Tom Mayfield latching onto a loose ball in the D and confidently finding the backboard to set the game on fire again. But BOE didn't hold on as OBHC came roaring back. As their centre forward went clean through 1v1 with Nathan Bullens our GK, Nathan wiped him out as he attempted to bypass him and the Umpire awarded a penalty flick. OBHC put it away...... BOE were 3-2 down at half time.

The second half was all BOE apart from two super redeeming saves from Nathan. The Club would dominate proceedings but that elusive equaliser was proving hard to come by. Plenty of oooo's and ahhhh's as BOE came close time after time but as it looked like it was drifting away from them, up stepped that man Chris Harden to give the lads a deserved equaliser. A wonderful aerial interception by teen sensation Jake Owen set him free down the right, he bypassed two defenders and was in. He rifled a D injection and after an initial blocked shot, Chris Harden would flick the ball high into the net to make it 3-3. There was just enough time for a winner.

Cometh the hour, Cometh the brothers. Michael Lawrence released brother David Lawrence in the final 23 whereupon he twisted and turned the OBHC inside out with some mesmerising stick skills in the D before being unceremoniously chopped down. A penalty corner awarded. BOE were super confident. An excellent injection for Tom Harden and superb stop saw Chris Harden sling the ball in with a sensational drag flick to secure an outstanding 4-3 win for the boys. Brotherly love. Job done, round three here we come. What a game this was and what a great performance from the lads. The Road To Lee Valley continues.
