Didsbury Northern routed 6-0 as lads book their place in the EH Trophy Final at Lee Valley on Sun 1st May.

College Meadow witnessed jubilant scenes once again as SUPER SUNDAY delivered a well earned final appearance for the BOE Hockey Family!

Our 'Road to Lee Valley' is complete. We will meet Guernsey HC on Sunday 1st May at 'The Wembley of Hockey' at the Olympic Park in East London in a final bid to secure the trophy. The match will be played on the Main Stadium Pitch at 3:30pm.

It was a devastating display from our hockey heroes who scored in the 2nd minute courtesy of uber talented maestro Michael 'Messi' Lawrence. He bobbed and weaved between the bewildered Didsbury defenders who gave him way too much space at the top of the D so he dutifully smashed the ball into the corner with pin point accuracy and awesome power as a despairing GK dived 5 secs later. From this point we never looked back going 3-0 up in the first 15mins. Chris 'How Low Can You Go' Harden rifled in two penalty corners within two minutes of each other with such astonishing power and accuracy the stuffing visibly left our Northern counterparts and they looked ready to throw in the towel there and then even though only 17 mins were on the clock. Didsbury rarely threatened the BOE goal as Tom 'Sheepy' Harden and Ben Wyatt were in imperious form letting little past them. The impressive James Craigmyle in goal only made one save from open play and the few penalty corners slung at him were padded away with consummate ease. The Harden hat-trick came from open play as he cooly finished a fine passing move to slip the ball under the GK. Half time and BOE had what looked like an insurmountable 4-0 lead. Two goals in the second half as Chris notched his fourth with a rocket drag flick and Skipper Sami 'The Turk' Djavit finally put it away at the third attempt after his silky skills had split open their defence. The goals were truly six of the best. It's fair to say the score should've been considerably more as BOEHC dominated the game and besieged the Didsbury goal for most of the game. Didsbury have their GK to thank from saving them from an even bigger humiliation as he pulled of a host of superb saves to keep the score in single figures. Didsbury gave the ball away far too much and the turnover rate was high. With the pace and skill in the BOE front line this was lethal and the team capitalised on these errors with clinical efficiency. It was a very one sided affair with Wotton-under-Edge in the QF giving our lads a much tougher test but you play what is in front of you and BOE systematically dismantled Didsbury. This was truly a cohesive, unified and well drilled team performance with not a single poor performance. Every player gave such a good account of themselves. Stephen Roche, Dom Jaikaransingh and Sam Djavit totally controlled the midfield. Ed Bull, Ben Stafford, Jake Owen and Rob Hughes cantered up and down the wings as attacking half-backs with relentless energy. David Lawrence twisted and turned the Didsbury defence inside out with his fantastic skills and was unlucky to have his superb mid air 'home' run' finish disallowed as he deserved a goal. Tom Mayfield and Sacha DeMarigny rotated in the front line and both played some of their best hockey of the season as they continually drove into the D setting up chances and winning numerous fouls as Didsbury failed to cope with them. Michael Lawrence was outstanding in every aspect of the match and was the modicum of discipline and calmness despite some severe provocation. He scared the life out of the opposition and his hockey was breathtaking at times. And of course Chris Harden helped himself to four wonderful goals each of which was a collectors piece. Superb each and every player. The lure of playing at Lee Valley in the final and the confidence of having wrapped up the league title weeks ago drove our boys on and they were clearly up for the challenge.

It was fantastic to see so many of the great and the good giving the club their support - Tony Johnson, Andy Couves, Colin Couves, Andy Bartlett, Andy Rose, John Harrington, Richard Dawbarn, Keith & Carol Elliot to name but a few!!

Huge congratulations to Cup Team Manager and Captain Tom Archer who has masterminded and led this hugely successful adventure. Unfortunately he was injured for this match but has played a pivotal role at CH all season and it's credit to the strength of the team that despite his inj the team wasn't weakened. Tom managed the tactics and bench for this game with real aplomb.
Enormous credit to Head Coach Calum Giles who has shaped this team into a winning machine. They have extended their unbeaten run in league and cup to 20 games. The League title was wrapped up with 4 games to spare , with an unsurpassable 10+ point winning margin, and the team have only suffered one league defeat all season.
