The 1st XI score 4 in the first 30 minutes to keep the dream of a return to Lee Valley well and truly alive.

Having made the long trip to Guildford on Saturday and taken part in a stunning, high paced affair in Goddalming, the 1st XI needed to dig deep in what was likely to be another stern test of their resolve. The squad had found new life having had a tough few weeks and they showed just how good they can be with a stunning display to tear the opposition apart in the first half. Right from the off the BE boys looked right on task as the midfield took hold of the game. With their second attack of the game the squad won a penalty corner that was duly rocketed home by Chris Harden. Wave after wave of attack followed and the team looked in superb shape to double their lead. They did just that as David Lawrence won another corner and then played a simple 1-2 with the skipper, Harden slotted the return pas and it was 2-0 in a flash. The game evened out a fraction after that, but a superb bit of individual skill would see Harden register his 3rd as he beat 2 men at the top of the D and smash the ball into the bottom corner. 3-0 and justly deserved. There would be one final moment in the 1st half to cap off an excellent display as Andy Slack was on hand at the far post to deflect in and make it 4-0 at the break.

After half time BE continued to play with pace and style as they forked out a number of other opportunities but the T Wells keeper and the cross bar would keep the score at 4-0 and just about keep the home side interested in the game. Fair play to Wells as they never gave up and did find the net with 10 to play but BE would hold fast and keep the pressure onto not allow any thoughts of a late come back.

A superb showing from the Club and a tough weekend that had brought much success after a few weeks of difficult displays. The boys must stay true to their work rate, responsibility and team work to ensure that many more displays such as this are just around the corner. Well done to all involved, a brilliant day.
