Men's 1s bounce back with a good 3-0 win against local rivals KAHC

After the disappointment of suffering a defeat in our first league game of the season, the BOE 1st XI were determined to get our league campaign back on track with a win against Kings & Alleyn's Hockey Club.

Kings were promoted with us last year and gave us a good run for our money on both occasions we played them especially at the meadow. Therefore one expected a tight affair, with a good solid performance being needed to win.

BOE, controlled the game for much of the first half. Our press was working well and we were passing very nicely and moving the ball well round the back. The first goal came with 20 minutes gone. A great ball from the back lead to a break on the left hand side of the field formed by Parker and Wallace. Wallace was able to collect the ball nicely at the left hand side of the circle and calmly slotted it over the diving keeper in the roof of the net.

After that A couple of short corners were not capitalised upon and the was a passage of play were Kings had a great opportunity to score. However strong resilient defending from the back four and Bullens kept the score 1-0. With a minute to go Kings lost the ball in our half and we quickly broke culminating with Parker and Wallace again leading the attack. This time Wallace became the provider and Parker scored nicely in the bottom left of the goal. 2-0 At half time.

The aim for the second half was to continue the pressure and aim for 3 more goals. Although we had the opportunities we only managed to get one goal through the impressive debutant Noble.

Towards the end the game opened up a bit and this is something we need to work on in controlling the game more but that will come in the next few games.

Overall very pleasing performance and a clean sheat. The result gets us back on track. Let's keep this going.
