BOE welcomed Holcombe 1A (2’s) to the College Meadow this Saturday.

We knew that Holcombe would turn up with a decent side and after an inspired warm up from Coach Sam Dajvit the team was fired up and ready to go.

The first 10 minuets saw a high intense and closely competed battle. Sporting a half court press BOE where in control and had few close chances on the break, which we unfortunately couldn’t capitalise on.

BOE found ourselves giving the ball away in key areas which lead to Holcombe scoring 2 quick goals, which put BOE on the back foot. The team kept their composure and stuck to the game plan which brought us in to half time.

The team considered what needed to be done at half time and where ready to go out second half and take the game to Holcombe. The start of the second half was positive, the back four where distributing the ball well and we held onto some good possession going forward. Unfortunately, mistakes where made again and Holcombe scored two more gaols to give them a comfortable 4-0 lead.

After many weeks of scoring a number of goals each week, we couldn’t seem to finish, but this did not stop the determination of the team. We kept going forward and giving a 100% to the end. This effort was rewarded by a deflection by James Logan off a excellent ball into the dee by Micheal Lawrence.

The final whistle came and the frustration could be felt throughout the team. We had been outplayed by the Holcombe side. The mistakes made need to be rectified in training and concentration needs to be on getting a result down at Maidstone next week.
