1st XI hope 6-3 win can spur them on to a good finish to the first half of the season.........

BOE 1st XI headed down to Maidstone on a cold but sunny day to play some good hockey and bounce back with a win after the disappointment of suffering a few defeats in last couple of weeks, the BOE 1st XI were determined to get our league campaign back on track with a win against Maidstone 1st XI and boy did they do just that!

Coach Sam Djavit decided to do things a bit differently this time and start off with a full press. From the get go we dominated possession and looked very comfortable on the ball. Then suddenly completely against the run of play Maidstone scored to go 1-0 up but the boys bounced back nicely and won a short corner for man of the match Mike Lawrence to put the ball in the back of the net and he did just that to score 1 of his 4 goals. That goal gave the boys a boost and BOE pushed on and scored 3 more goals before half time. One of the goals was an own goal and Mike Lawrence scored the other 2. One coming from a short corner and the other coming from a trademark Michael Lawrence reverse hit into the bottom right hand corner. Maidstone stone pulled one back before halftime aswell. Score was 4-2 at half time.

At half time the plan was to score a few more goals and seal the match off. It all went according to plan and BOE 1st XI scored 2 more goals before full time. With a brilliant solo effort ,Fergus Parker scored one of the best goals of the season. Then disappointingly we conceded another goal but as the game became more open Mike Lawrence scored at the end to seal the game off. End score was 6-3.

Saturday was a good performance from the BOE 1st XI. Tireless running by Fergus Parker, great leads from Lewis Tutsel and a sold performance from the tank himself , Tommy Archer!
The burgers back in the clubhouse were magnificent and the hospitality from Maidstone was even better. So there’s one more game to go before the season takes a break and the BOE 1st XI are eager to get another win under the belt and give the Saffa a good send off at the Christmas party.
