Another pleasant day at the Meadow had the boys feeling positive leading into an important game. Our aim - to redeliver our message as strong contenders for the league title this season and to begin our climb up the summit of the England hockey hierarchy.

The beer taps were ready, as was the Jaeger for the post game Captain & New Members Night social; but alas, the game was to precede the drinking, and like professionals we switched our minds to the matter at hand. Canterbury Pilgrims! Or should I say "Canterbury pillaged!!!".

Correct! 7-2 victory. Convincing some might say... but the cracks were there to see during the game (as well as in the showers afterwards). We may have the makings of a strong team, but we still have plenty to work on both in defence and offence, a point reinforced by the disappointment of exiting the Meadow arena having let two late goals spoil a clean sheet.

2 goals conceded is 2 goals too many, something driven home by Coach Cal at the end of the game. But as the saying goes, "seeing the glass as half empty is more positive than seeing it as half full. Through such a lens the only choice is..... to pour more. That is righteous pessimism." Onwards and upwards! Two more big home games to follow. Winning is the only option.

Special mentions to Chris "woo" Harden for his 3 goals, to Thomas "Rob Henderson" Mayfield for finishing neatly after a well worked BOE move and a sublime brotherly connection as Lawrence Younger dived to deflect the ball into the roof of the net from a pin point delivery from 30m by Lawrence Senior.
