The title says it all, we won the title! The league has been a long time coming but it was this fine bunch of men that finally secured it for BOE on a fine Saturday afternoon in which the had to battle hard against the axmen of Crawley. No side was ever going to come to the Meadow and roll over and Crawley did not. In fact they produced a gritty and fearsome performance which would make BOE earn every ounce of the victory, and that they did.

There early exchanges saw BOE in the ascendency and it was no surprise when Steve Roche latched onto the ball to put BOE 1-0 to the good and brew the excitement for a title charge. Crawley would have nothing of it and would equalize to make things tense once again, only for Chris Harden to restore BOE's lead and put the home side up with another deadly finish. The side were doing their best to play in a positive manor but the strength of Crawley's resistance and tackling was being met with some rather light hearted officiating and the motto for the day was most certainly 'get whacked, keep your mouth shut'. On another day in another year, BOE may have got rattled and, despite a second Crawley equalizer to make it 2-2, from that moment on, it would be BOE.

How fitting after such a wonderful season for both, that it would be Mr M Lawrence and Mr C Harden that would seal the league title. Firstly Chris found the net with another stunning finish, his pace and power once again frightening a visiting keeper and the final nail in the Kent/Sussex Div 1 coffin was struck by the marauding, self confessed 'Hockey Ninja' as Mike Lawrence polished it off.....CHAMPIONS!!!!

The bubbles did flow for a while, but with a vital cup quarter final the next day the boys would reserve their celebrations for another day!
