PURLEY GRAB VERY LATE EQUALISER TO FRUSTRATE BOE'S BOYS

It's fair to say that a game that demanded 3 points but only yielded 1 was a disappointment especially as the lads conceded an equaliser with only 3 secs left on the clock. The more generous might have said that a point wasn't bad considering four key players were absent namely Jake Owen away on England U18 Training Camp, inspirational Skipper and top scorer Chris Harden enjoying the first few days with his new born daughter, the enigmatic and dangerous forward Mike Lawrence overseas and tricky winger Tom Mayfield not available. It did give the rare opportunity for Saffer CB Mike Benson to play in the front line and he dutifully collected 2 goals for his hard work. One from open play and the other a neatly converted drag flick penalty corner. Nevertheless the boys will rue the many chances to put this game beyond doubt and collect an important 3 points.
