Goals galore in South Coast stalemate

Looking to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Tunbridge Wells last week, the 1st team had a long trip down to Bournemouth ahead of them.

Busy eyed ready to take on the challenge, the team met at Waterloo East bright and early knowing the challenge that awaited them. The first of which was getting down to Bournemouth with the damage caused by the storm overnight.

After finally arriving in Bournemouth, the team was focused, composed and determined to get a positive result from one of the hardest away fixtures in the league. This showed as before long Blackheath found them self one nil up after a wonderful run from Eddy Forshaw saw him find himself in the middle of the D before calmly finishing past the goalkeeper.

A lapse of concentration at the back gifted Bournemouth the chance to get back into the game shortly after, an area we certainly need to improve on.

Bournemouth were then on top for a lot of the first half however a penalty corner was converted by Blackheath which was won as a result of some great skill from David Lawrence.

Bournemouth then went on to get a second before half-time to level the scoring at half-time.

The second half began in a gale and the rain began to fall. Blackheath played with more composure and fewer turnovers were made but it was Bournemouth who got the third to go into a lead.

Blackheath finally found their straps and started to dominate possession consistently creating lots of good chances. It was Marley Jones who finally stuck the ball away to level the scores. Blackheath huffed and puffed but were unable to find a winner leaving both teams with a point.

Whilst disappointed not to win, the team reflected that to not get beaten on the South Coast was not a negative result.

A huge match against West Hampstead at the Meadow awaits the chaps next week. Hope to see you there.
