Four on the bounce at the home of England Hockey

BEHC travelled to Bisham Abbey to play Wycombe Hockey club, in the search of the team’s 4th consecutive win in the league. The team set out with a strong press where the opposition found hard to get out of, with their full backs both finding it easier passing to our front line compared to their own players. After missing a couple of opportunities, BEHC had some success hitting Wycombe hard on the break, which lead to a messy engagement in the opponent’s dee before captain Chris Harden took control and made it 1-0 with a finish in the bottom left hand corner.

After the goal had been scored, Wycombe came back in the game with a number of attacks, BEHC was up to the task where the defence led by Ed Fleet and Tom Harden soaked up a lot of pressure that was being applied. Wycombe were getting a lot of Short corners awarded, but Goalkeeper James Craigmyle had all efforts covered.

With 5 minutes to go, BEHC had more success on the right hand side and had a short corner awarded which Chris slotted in bottom left to make it 2-0. The opposition insisted they had the pitch watered so we had an extended Half time talk along with some questionable input from travelling visitor Michael Lawrence, we knew 35 mins of hard work would get the 3 points.

The second half was quite scrappy, in the middle of the second half we started to control the game more with some good passing round the back and we defended well keeping them out. Wycombe were able to get a goal through a short corner, but they didn’t have any more success. BEHC were able to get a few more short corners where we came close a couple of times through a questionable disallowed goal from Chris and a short corner which led to Ed Fleet hitting the post. The game finished 2-1 and a win for BEHC. Although it wasn’t a classic performance, it was good to get the 3 points and continue the recent winning run. MOM went to James Craigmyle for another solid performance and DOD went to Eddy Forshaw due to a number of reasons but the icing on the cake was his insistence of playing commando.
