2's learn that it's not all sunshine and Rainbows!!

For some reason, things just did not click for BOE until the final 15 minutes of the game. Practically the same XI that ran Gravesham ragged made a team sport look decidedly individual. This is what preseason is for. A lack of communication, diving into tackles, misplaced passes and general mistakes saw frustration rise and things become more fractious. On 15 minutes New Becs took a 1-0 lead & deservedly so, 4 BOE defenders dived into tackles, and the ball ran loose for a simple tap in. BOE needed a response and it was quick, Tom Piesold robbed the New Becs back 4 and had his shot saved only for Edd Thorogood to latch on and rifle a strike into the goal, 1-1. This should have kicked BOE on but more sloppy play and a vacant midfield saw New Becs take a 2-1 lead into half time.

Second half BOE started much the same, sluggish and without any fluidity. In fact it was not until New Becs score a third scrappy tap in goal, that BOE really woke up. Suddenly the midfield found some legs, the ball was moving and the desired height and width was available to the ball carrier, a neat 1-2 between Morrison and Thorogood saw Morrison score to bring it back to 2-3. New Becs were tiring and BOE had a sense of new found confidence, Dan Moore was running the midfield and it was he that won BOE a short corner with 8mins to go. Thorogood and Moore exchanged at the top of the D before The ball ran loose to Ed Bull who tucked in the equaliser. There were chances for a couple more deflected goals as we headed for the final whistle but BOE must be thankful that their lack lustre first 45 minutes didn't cost them.

A very good and timely warning for the squad that no side will just sit down and let us play, we will have to earn every little ounce of success this year!
