DOMINANT DISPLAY DELIVERS DISAPPOINTING DRAW

The BOE 2nd XI took to The Meadow determined to play as well as they looked in their shiny new kit.

Unfortunately Scott Dow at the back felt like giving the team a challenge by passing to their left forward who deftly played in their centre forward. 1-0 down in the opening minutes, far from ideal.

The midfield and forward line kicked it up a gear working the high press and stealing the ball multiple times in the final 1/3 of the pitch. Great moves down the right and left linking the whole team together lead to numerous chances and even more short corners but we went in at half time 1-0 down and it looked like it was going to be one of those days.

The half time team talk was simple, the press was working, the chances were plenty, the goals will follow.

Shortly into the second half another short corner, a change of attack and Jake Lamplough flicked the ball past the the keeper. Was it the fastest flick he's ever done? No. Does it count? Damn right it does. 1-1.

BOE's kept the pressure on and worked the ball down the right, and a pass along the baseline was neatly deflected in from a tight angle by Will Powell. 2-1 Up.

The press was working well with the only option for Burnt Ash being to throw aerials which were picked up by the back four, unfortunately a stray ball got through and led to a very questionable penalty corner which was flicked in for 2-2.

If we are honest BOE will see this as 2 points lost rather than 1 point gained but there are many positives to take away from this game and if we can continue to dominate teams in this way we will do well. The undefeated streak continues.
