Not everything went to plan, but the 2's played well enough to register a very fine 4-2 win.....

The 2s had a bumper crowd this week cosisting of current president Colin Couves, life member John Harrington, the mens Heathens with current Club Chairman Matt Wilde and many other to cheer the lads on.

The game for the 2s started brightly with the boys spreading the ball around confidently.

There was a break by Holcombe who opened the scoring with a short corner that seemed to go wrong for them only for the ball to end up in the back of the net.

Step up Mikey Lawrence who picked up the ball and proceeded to waltz around a couple of swinging stick tackles and rifle a low tomahawk into the backboard.
1-1.

The game got a bit scrappy then with mis placed passes and interceptions but the boys defended resolutely not letting Holcs back into the game.

I can't remember much of the second goal but I believe the ball was put into the back of the goal by a Holcs player after Prems cross from inside the D.

Half time 2-1 deservedly.

The second half started much better for us as we held the ball and transfered with intent and high ball pace.

Holcs didnt offer too much but did get through a couple of times only to be thwarted by Nathan and the defence. One particular save came when the ball broke behind the defence with the Holcs player chasing after the ball and Nate had also decided that he could get there first. Nate either needed to get the ball or find himself on the naughty bench. Out he came barrelling down Stick extended, he jumped into the air stick scything towards the ball (or player). Wack. A sigh of relief when the lads and the crowd saw the ball being taken rather than the player.

The third goal came after an inspired substitution by coach Jade (his words not mine) putting an half injured Mike back on the field where the ball was slotted to him just outside the right hand side of the D he ran with the ball into the D and proceeded to wind up only for the Holcs defenders to part as if it was Moses holding his staff out. Mike then decided that 10 yards out wasn't close enough he moved to withing about 6 and smashed the ball top corner.

Holcs did get a goal back after some confusion between the mids and defence seemingly caused by captain Rob as he needed his first break of the game and was off the field for 5 mins so wasn't on hand to Marshall the others into marking the man at the far post.

The game was wrapped up by VC Oli from a corner with him putting the ball into the goal from his knees after.

Final score 4-2 to the mighty twos 3 out of 3 so far. Not out greatest game with things to improve but a well deserved win with the lads working as hard as ever.

MOM Nate - some great saves and chat both inside and outside his D

DOD - Joe Allen many reasons which I cannot put in here.

Massive thank you to the crowd who came and supported and also to Logan who umpired with real integrity.

Gore Court away will be a firm test for the boys next weekend.
