Goals galore as Heathens annihilate Maidstone in a second half avalanche of scoring

A wet damp afternoon greeted the Heathens to play their second league game. With last week's defeat from the team who were denied promotion last season, the Heathens had something to prove to Maidstone and more importantly, themselves.

A squad of new, young and old(er) members were ready for battle. Possession and opportunities came early for BOE, but failed to finished in the back of the net. Although the midfield was clogged at times, the robust defending from CB, Jonny and Tom C, made very clear from the outset that 'no goals shall pass the Heathens goal line.'

With pressure mounting on Maidstone's midfield and backline led by Chris Hall powering around the oppo like roadrunner and fresh legs from Joe Allen, the first goal finally came through a solid finish by Louis Dods. The Heathens pressed on with securing 3 short corners yet remained unsuccessful. The half time whistle was blown.

The half time presentation from the 'Sir' Danny Lewis gave the Heathens the encouragement they needed. Although at no point did the team stop pushing, they knew 1 nil wasn't enough. With the strategy "pass wide and defend the middle" the fruits of goals galore were harvested. 2 goals were fired at the oppo from Louis, then further a goal by James Hatcher.. Celebrations were public, but short lived, as Heathens continued to work hard in pressuring the opposing backline..

Joe added to the tally and the boys were on a roll. Maidstone tried to turn the table and scored a scrappy goal, but the boys responded again by blowing holes in Maidstone's back net. A green card against Maidstone further assisted in extending BOE's lead adding Andrew Moore and Chris Hall to the score sheet. The final whistle blew at 9 goals to 1 for the Heathens, with the James Hatcher reverse hitting the ball in past a truly beaten oppo.

Joint MOTM was rewarded to debutant and hat trick scorer, Louis, Tino and Chris 'the engine' Hall.

Certainly DOTD must be reward to their captain who forgot his astros and then later pulled his hamstring. His side of the pitch management, was still second to none.

With spirits high, the team focus on next week at Canterbury...
