With the rain finally letting up, the Fives took to the field against a Holcombe side fielding a few more youngsters than the team that we played in the league fixture. The game was played in good spirits throughout and was most enjoyable, boosted of course by the 3-0 score line.
The first goal belonged to Moshin (his first for the season) - after some trademark dancing across the D he flicked past the keeper, at such speed that the umpires had time to run off and get a cuppa! We're not sure if it hit the backboard or not... Well done though, Mosh.
Alex Muntus laid claim to the next two goals. The first followed some serious Strictly-esque twisting and turning, before it was slotting into the corner (with a definite noise from the backboard this time!)! His second, mid-way through the second half, finishing a pinball/snooker (off a red, off a white, off a red, etc. etc.) from the keeper's pads. A fine performance from Alex, once again getting man of the match and once again just sneaking Zac out of the honours.
We were all expecting a rusty performance but surprised ourselves. There were excellent passes, great movement off the ball and some very slick combinations across the pitch. Mark Ainley had a super half proving that the basics are most important, stop the ball clean, look up, make the easy pass. So effective
Well done team. A fine performance, and we look forward to repeating the whole thing in March for the league fixture.
MOM: Alex Muntus
