Match report: Paul 'Da Bling' Whitney

On a crisp autumn morning the new look 5ives took to College Meadow with high expectations. Could we keep the momentum of the last few weeks going.
Answer: Yes indeedy!!!!!

From the off it was a one sided affair. The Fives playing controlled, slick hockey. Moving the ball around the field precisely and quickly. The pressure on New Beccs was intense with the 5s pressing hard and forcing mistakes from the oppo. The demand from the Captain was hard work, use the subs, run yourselves ragged. And that's what they did, every single player put in a full shift, except Mike "hit man" Thorns in goal who had nothing to do except re arrange his helmet!!!

If the ball did manage to get out of the New Beccs half it was quickly cleaned up by the back 4, spread across the field and back on the attack again. Midway through the first half came the first with Stu H getting a glorious deflection (obviously showing off in front of his better half). The second came with about 5 mins remaining of the first half from midfield maestro Mulvanny who took a lovely slipped pass on the top right of the D and hit the crispest strike this season (another new backboard please Edd)!!!

The second half was more of the same with relentless pressure from the 5s but sadly no more goals. So we ended 2-0 winners but the score line did not reflect the complete dominance of Blackheath throughout the game. Such was the dominance that New Beccs did not have a single shot on target. The only touches Mike had was to retrieve the ball for a 16 and one kick out to save a long corner. Probably the least value £10 ever!!! But the points are ours.
