Another win for the Feisty Fives

The rain abated and on a now fine but fresh morning the troops of five platoon took to the field. A top of the table clash against Folkestone, always to be savoured. After last weeks display of grit and determination could the troops collectively pull together and make it easier...............Hell yes !!!

GK
Damo "already a legend" Dewildt.
What a find this man is. For most of the game he had to pace between the posts to keep warm, but was called upon a few times to make some classy saves. Anticipating the strike and going to ground early, last minute sweeps off the line, solid in his pad work. Can we keep him. Please can we keep him. Can we? can we? can we? !!!!

Defence
Ross "I have no tonsils" Ainley
Jamie "get me a beer" Cotgreave
James "iceman" Smith
Carney "I'm gonna milk this graduate thing" Battenti
Matt "smiling" McGee
A master class in defence work. There was at no time any panic. The ball was spread from side to side, there were always plenty of options. On the rare occasion that the ball did get past "iceman", Jamie was there to mop up the pieces, spread the ball wide and we were off and running again. It was a pleasure to watch.

Midfield
"Young" James Elliot
Adam "the Maestro" Mulvanny
David "Duracell" Leverton
The work rate and positioning of the midfield was awesome. There was always an outlet for the defence, there was always an option to go back for the forwards. "Young" James dazzled with his stick work and effort and is gaining confidence every week. As his game craft strengthens he will become a force. "the Maestro" danced and dazzled his way through the centre of the field interlinking with the forwards to great effect, and earning him Man of the Match - although it was a close call!!

Midfield/centre attack
Cameron "the Bionic Man" Lester
A special position created just for Cameron which he attacked with gusto. The boy was everywhere. At times it was like the superhero Flash, the leaves would rustle and your hair would float about a bit, it must have been Cameron running past!! (Obviously for me it was just the leaves!!!)

Attack
Dan "Aguero" Ridge
Ollie "music man" Payne.
The link up with Cameron and the midfield was spot on. The passing between the two top men was fantastic and I think that Folkestone were lucky not to have about 6 put past them.

The game itself was played for 80% of the time in the Folkestone half. The passing was slick and precise. The game was just classy. Ollie bagged a goal in each half to keep the winning streak going. "Young" James had a blistering strike from a short corner somehow saved by a stick on the line and "Aguero" cleverly deflected a ball through his legs but sadly the wrong side of the post.!!
Every single man is putting in 100%, playing out of their skin and driving this fives squad to greatness. It is soooo much fun!!!! Sergeant "boots" Whitney is a very, very happy man.

Keep it going boys.

A special thanks to Mark and Danny for taking the whistle and officiating very well and keeping the game running as much as possible. Beers when you don't need to dash off. Cheers guys
