Team found guilty of unbeaten season once more

Blackheath O and E 5X1. 1
Gore Court 6X1. 0

BOE fives stood impatiently in the dock.
Gore court were in attendance.
Judge Kearney of the Kent Leagues was on the bench.

"Silence in court" (which may be difficult knowing the oppo)

The judge looked sternly at the fives squad assembled before him.
"You stand in this court accused of the following.
Playing outstanding hockey.
Giving 100% commitment
Always being available for your team.
Never complaining at selection
Passing and tackling cleanly
Letting the umpires do their job
Having a glorious season
Remaining unbeaten
And the most serious charge of all
ENJOYING YOURSELVES AND HAVING FUN!!!

What do you have to say for yourselves??"

The fives replied in unison
"Guilty as charged your honour"

"Well before passing sentence I must summarise the events of the day.

On Sat the 10th of December at 11.30 am you did take to the pitch at college meadow against the men and boys of gore court. You did from the outset of the game totally dominate the said opposition. Your passing was crisp and clean and the play was spread across the field. Your short corners were spot on, although none resulted in a goal, they were both well planned and well executed. The forwards gelled particularly well with notable performances from Zac and Stu. You did control the centre of the pitch and if the ball did get through the back line were there to eliminate any damage."

An interruption from the oppo
"Your honour I disagree.........."
"Silence in court"
"But your honour............"
"I will hold you in contempt sir if you do not button it"
"But your honour they did not move the ball back 5................."
" that's it. Green card. 2 minutes. Not another word"

"Now where was I??
Ah yes. So you continued to dominate the game. James Elliot and Carney had particularly good performances, although it is often difficult to get a man of the match when the whole team play to such an exceptional standard. Zac scored a fine goal with a beautiful strike to win the game, but by all reports gore court were lucky not to be on the receiving end of a four or five nil defeat. Allegedly Hit Man Thorns in goal only had to make one save, quite a ridiculous accusation!! And collectively as a team you managed to keep your cool even when there seemed to be four opposition umpires on the field"

"And so to the verdict
James Elliot and Carney Battenti are thus awarded Man of the Match. Both of you and the rest of the fives are sentenced to promotion to second spot in the league and to continue this run of form and enjoyment of your Saturdays on the hockey field!!!!!!"
