WHEN HARRY MET BECCY!!

So the fives decided to do a re make of the classic 80's film "When Harry Met sally", but this time turning it into a gritty sports drama, intermingled with some comedy moments. And a fine tale it turns out to be.

The scene is set with 4 members of the team dragged kicking and screaming up to play with the heathens.
"We don't wanna go cap" they cried, "We don't wanna go!!!!!"
"you'll be fine boys" reassured the captain "they will look after you. its just like big school!!"

So the team re set, with more than capable re-inforcements, and took to the astro at HSBC brimming with confidence.
The play started with the usual fives gusto, slick and fast, giving the oppo no time to gain any composure. passing quick, moving quick and giving New beccs nothing but pressure. The trio of young guns, Ollie, Ross and Harry proving to be more than a handful to their rear guard. But then the tide turns. In an unusual forray into the BOE half of the pitch, New Beccs win a short corner. Its defended well but phase 2 of the attack sees the ball bounce and wobble and somehow creep over the line!! the fives are 0-1 down!!
The crowd are in shock
Within 2 minutes however order is restored with the fives gaining a short at the other end, and once again on phase 2 the ball is bobbling around and finally Alex M latches on and forces the ball home. 1-1

The second half continues in the same vain as the first, with the fives dominating and New Beccs only being given the odd chance to penetrate our defences, and our boys shutting out the odd short corner really well. The fives finally took complete control mid way through the second half in a truly classic training ground play. The ball is picked up in the centre circle, its laid back, its swept across to the right of the field, young Harry makes a blinding lead to the right corner, the ball is swept down the line, Harry controls, looks up, creams the ball between the penalty spot and the top of the D, Zac delves into his pocket of crucial goals, slots it into the corner. Easy peasy !! 1-2. Shortly afterwards Ben fires home (a rare goal for him) and the fantastic fives are 1-3 to the good.

The final scene of the film is the classic Meg Ryan "faking it " scene, re done hockey style.
Harry receives the ball in the d and he is twisting and turning........
The captain is on the side of the pitch jumping around like a crazed baboon "yes,yes,yes.yes"...........
Harry twists and turns again, waiting for just the right moment and...........
slots the ball into the corner
"YES YES YES"
The captain is reduced to a blubbering wreck!!!!

So the fantastic fives put yet another to the sword with a 1-4 victory

special mentions to Ben E who ran from Bermondsey to the game (7 miles), then ran all the game (27 miles) - truly he is "Captain Blackheath". Also to Zac, Ross, and Ollie for fine performances and to Seneka for keeping order.
Man of the Match goes to Harry Southgate by a mile !! fine performance young man.

But as the credits roll there is one final scene to the film.
Alone figure strolls from the astro, hockey stick slung over one shoulder, mist swirling around his feet, juggling 6 hockey balls. He turns slowly to the camera.
"Remember the press boys. I'll be back!!!!"
