The hugely impressive start to the season continues as the Ladies 1st XI notch up another great victory

Blackheath 3 - Old Bordenians 1

MoM: Jilly
DoD: Jenny (so close to joint Mom damn the green card lol)

From the start Blackheath were switched on and ready to go. We knew we had to ensure our press was tight and reduce the number of turnovers against us and that's exactly what we did.

Using our triangles and short, sharp passes we kept hold of the ball and attacked well. Great crosses and shots into the D built up to a goal being put away by Netty. When we lost the ball we contained Old Bord's well setting up the press early and shifting across as a unit when they switched the ball. Going into half time we were 1-0 up but needed more goals to put us safely ahead.

We started the second half knowing we needed to continue to dig in and stay strong. Keeping our heads and being patient paid off as we scored our second goal which was put away by Rosie (aka Dave). Old Bord's broke forward a few times but we managed to win the ball back. However there was a moment where Jenny may have deliberately broken down play and got a green card which led to her getting DoD. A warning perhaps for a first offence would have been preferable but nevermind.

Blackheath were still hungry for another goal. We won a short corner and decided to go for a straight strike. The shot went in but was saved by the GK. The ball rebounded back out and Alice managed to get the ball over the line and our third goal was scored.

In the last 2 minutes of the game Old Bord's got a couple of short corners. We were hoping to keep a clean sheet but unfortunately it was not meant to be. Final score 3 - 1 to Blackheath.

Let's hope for more great things next week!
