First half
On a warm and sunny day, with high spirits and game faces on, the Ladies 1s team approached the pitch eagerly to face Tunbridge Wells. The first half saw a flurry of shots on goal, with excellent distribution and energy throughout the frontline. The ladies were determined to put the ball into the net. Tunbridge Wells' defense held their line, and our defenders charged down every one of their attacking shots. The half ended in a nail-biting 0-0 draw.
Second Half
The hunger for a goal was evident from both teams as the second half kicked off. The ladies held their defensive line steadfastly, while Tunbridge Wells' goalkeeper made remarkable saves, blocking shots from all directions. The game took a dramatic turn when we faced our first defensive penalty flick, and the tension was palpable as we fell behind 1-0.
With just 15 minutes remaining, Tunbridge Wells continued their relentless attacks on our defense, making communication and trust in our gameplay essential. However, after several breakdowns in play, a second defensive penalty flick was awarded against us, putting us at a 2-0 deficit.
With only 5 minutes left on the clock, quick and essential passing became pivotal. A brilliant ball from the baseline on the left-hand side of the pitch found Annie who put a lovely cross into the d for Sarah W to tap into the net leading to our first and only goal of the match. As the final whistle blew, the match concluded with a 2-1 loss. Despite the defeat, our team showcased incredible drive and hunger, ready to tackle the next match head-on.
