Blackheath & Elthamians L1 (2-3) Holcombe

The match began with a minute silence to honour those who have given their lives fighting for their country. An early goal set Blackheath back but some lovely play resulted in lots of possession in the opposition’s D. Many chances went missed and Holcombe managed to sneak another past. However, some great pressing allowed us to take advantage of a counter attack and Carlotta with her speedy pace and silky skills managed to get her shot away and boom we were back in the game. A firm and inspiring talk from Jules had the ladies raring and ready for the second half.

Some great defending from the defence kept the ball out and some beautiful play from Blackheath helped us to advance up the pitch. This spurred the Ladie’s on! They kept fighting, lots of passing and great communication helped us win our second goal in which Carlotta found the backboard. Some brilliant defending and great attacking kept the game even, unfortunately a short corner led to Holcombe sneaking another goal in before the full time whistle and the match ended 3-2 to Holcombe.

Some positive play to take from the match and also some things to take into training but the Ladie’s 1’s will return next week hungry for points.

Sally’s excellent block tackles and balls up the pitch secured her MOM. DOD went to Sarah W for her fumbling feet!
